A protein smoothie is great for a breakfast on the run, or a healthy snack.
Use 100% plant based protein powders like pea or fermented brown rice protein, free of flavours and sweeteners; easy on digestion and allergy free.
Ingredients
- 200mls filtered water
- 5 ice cubes
- 1 quantity of protein powder (see jar for details, should supply 20gms approx of pure protein)
- 1/2 cup of mixed berries (frozen is fine) or 1/2 ripe banana and a slice of pineapple
- 1 tablespoon of flaxseed or coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon of chia seed paste*
* to make chia paste – mix 1 tablespoon of white chia seeds with 1/2 cup of water. In 10 minutes the chia seeds will absorb the water making a jelly like paste. Chia seeds are high in soluble fibre and a good source of omega 3 fatty acids
Method
Put all ingredients except oil in a blender and pulse to break up ice cube.
Blend smoothie until smooth
Add flaxseed or coconut oil and pulse until just combined
Pour into a tall glass and enjoy straight away
